Lakkhichhara
Lakkhichhara is a well-known Bengali rock band from Kolkata, West Bengal, and an important name in the city's modern rock music scene. Formed in 1999, the band began its professional journey by performing at college festivals, hotels and pubs. Over the years, Lakkhichhara developed a distinctive sound that moved from soft rock towards rock, hard rock and progressive influences.
The band's first album, Megh Mallar, was released in 2001 through Asha Audio. Although the album was not a major commercial success, songs such as “Care Kori Na” and “Shudhu Chai Tomay” received radio exposure in Kolkata. Their second album, Jibon Chaichhe Aro Besi, followed in 2003.
Lakkhichhara reached another important milestone with Eka, released in 2005. The album became a major success and helped strengthen the band's place among Bengali rock listeners. Their later work included Bisesh Bisesh Ongsho Birotir Por and, more recently, the EP Ek Doshok Por, released in 2023.
What makes Lakkhichhara special is not simply their rock sound, but their connection with Bengali culture and Kolkata's live music community. Their journey reflects changing generations, musical experimentation and a lasting passion for performing. Even after decades, Lakkhichhara remains a memorable part of Bengali rock history.
